Yes it is a great medium for passing on information but do I use it, do we as a society use it so we don't think.
I am not implying no one out there thinks, and I know I use the computer to research lots of things,
But I mean think
really really think
like Einstein think
or Galileo Galilei think
are we so stuck in the not thinking virtual reality that is brought to us so effortlessly
that streams so much in to our mind that we have no room to think any independent thoughts because we are so busy with the influx of mindless info from the virtual world!
I just wonder what would happen if we walked away from the mindless chatter for one day, one week, one month, one year-can you imagine what we might accomplish as individuals, as a society, how about the entire world!!!!
It is a fascinating thought to say the least

BUT if you can unplug for a day or a week or a month, you def need to tell us about it! If i can I will share I promise or threaten LOL-depends on how you see it :)

ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I've visited this blog, but not so long. It's interesting to see the developments.
I have been known to "unplug" for periods at a time, mainly when I feel out of "harmony". When I say "unplug", I mean quite literally; computer, phone, and television. Quite recently I have unplugged from Facebook and Twitter. While they can be great tools, I have found that instead of inspiring creative thought, social media can have a tendency to suppress thought and questioning. I found that most people, including myself, would agree with a "quote" without questioning if it is true or if that is truly where my level of understanding is at. The internet can be a double edged sword. While providing a limitless source of information and connecting people all over the world, it does lead to a lack of creative thought, but only because we've allowed it to. Too often we take what we read as truth, instead of seeking real truth. It seems as though technology in general has suppressed the creativity of the human being. I suppose the real question here is are we in control of technology, or have we allowed it to control us?
Gene!!! I love your thoughts ;) I couldn't agree more, most people believe things to be dogmatic when in fact all things can and should be questioned. I think most are programmed this way ....church, schools...all indoctrination not education, which should be an open exchange of ideas. Alas, we are but the strange ones my friend always probing, asking, searching ....a thirst for knowledge for enlightenment our driving force....
